TL;DR

The beautiful two-storey neoclassical house of Karyotakis, an important Greek poet of the 20th century, now housing an authority of a Greek University.

Born on September 30th, 1896 in Tripoli, the poet Konstantinos Karyotakis lived in a beautiful two-storey building of neoclassical architecture. Today this building houses the Rectorate Authorities of the University of Peloponnese. The house belonged to the poet’s mother Aikaterini Skagianni, member of one of the most prominent families of Tripoli. On the exterior of the building the frames are combined with frieze style capstones. Equally impressive are the pilasters of the main entrance, the elaborate railing of the balcony and the colorful roof panel.

This simple and harmonious mansion is at the junction of Erythros Stavros Str. and K.Karyotakis Str. and it is considered to be a true gem of Tripoli.
