In 1989 after a research realized by the Folklore Foundation of Nafplio, the Child Awareness Museum was established in cooperation with the local authority. The museum was named “Stathmos” and it deals with “the child and the cycle of childhood” from antiquity to today. The exhibition “The child and the game” was the first that focused on the collections of the Peloponnese Folklore Foundation that include different toys from the village and the city, many of which were made by the children themselves. Most of the exhibits are dated from the 1950’s and the Inter-war period.
In the Museum you will also find some toys casts from antiquity, thus having the chance to watch the evolution from clay toys to those made of metal and plastic. One of the prides of the museum is the important collection of “Dolls with greek local costumes” by Fani Kaze.
