The Pyramid of Lygourio is located at the foothills of Mount Arachnaio, in Lygrourio village and it is one of the most important pyramids of ancient Greece. It is dated from the 3rd millennium BC and it is said that it was constructed as a memorial for the fallen fighters of the battle between Proitos and Akrisios, the two prince brothers who clashed for power. Since there was no winner, they buried their dead ones in a common memorial. According to the myth, in this battle the fighters used shields for the first time.
Today, only the base of the pyramid is preserved, 14X12m., since its materials were used for the construction of other buildings.
