It is a mountainous village at an altitude of 680m with approximately 400 residents. It is near the prefecture of Achaia, on the southern slopes of Mount Saita and 45km from Tripoli. Daras is built amphitheatrically on the foothills of Mount Fragos in Saita’s mountain range and offers an exceptional view to the region’s valley.
To this day, the village maintains a custom during which the boys and the girls bid farewell to February with an entertaining ceremony while exorcising the fleas and rats that March would bring. As they walk through the entire village they drive away the evil menacing spirits. Every year, on February 28th at noon, this old and strange custom revives can be seen taking place. In the village, you will find many guesthouses and taverns.
