TL;DR

A traditional village with stone-paved roads and stone houses, nine churches, a museum, a monastery, a couple of schools and a long history.

Elliniko is a beautiful and traditional village located in a spectacular natural environment, as do most villages of mountainous Arcadia. It is siturated at an altitude of 720m, on the west of Arcadia’s prefecture, in the former province of Gortynia. It is built on the southeastern ends of Skontavos top with approximately 400 residents and 50km away from Tripoli. Its name was Malatsi until 1928. It extends over three hills and that’s the reason why its sobriquet is “Trilofo”-meaning three hills in greek.

Its history begins from the 15th century, as it is first mentioned in the ottoman archives. Elliniko paid a huge human toll during both World Wars. The village is quiet, picturesque with stone-paved roads and stone houses, as well as nine churches, an Ecclesiastical Museum, the Mavrakeios School of Professional Training, the monastery of Agios Nikodimos (St. Nikodimos), a two-storey School and others.
