A settlement of 369 residents, in the plains of Argolida, built on an altitude of 20 metres 4.6 kilometres northeast of Argos. The village used to be called Boutia and it was divided in Upper and Lower Village. Its residents are engaged mainly in agriculture, producing citrus fruits as most of the villages of the plains of Argolida, though Ira is known for its great apricots.
Since 1983, the educational and cultural association called "Ira's Association" has been active, organising interesting events with traditional dances. The visitor should see the two churches of the village, Agios Georgios which is its central church, and Agios Ioannis.Ira
